Owners of small bars and restaurants can't easily self-check fire exits and materials
A July 12, 2026 fire at a Lat Phrao beer hall killed at least 27 people. The venue had the legally required four exits, but officials could not confirm they were usable, and licenses are renewed annually after inspection. Owners of similar venues have no quick way to test whether they would pass a tougher check.

5 ways to tackle it
Camera and vision
Exit Walk: film a 60 second walk through your venue and get a pass or fail list
The owner films one slow walk from the main door to the back. The AI pulls frames, finds every exit, door swing, sign, extinguisher and stock pile, and checks each against a checklist written from public rules. It flags blocked doors, missing signs and expired tags.
Build with Claude vision, ffmpeg frame sampling, Next.js, checklist from public fire rules
Web portal
Crowd Flow Sim: draw your floor plan and watch 150 people try to leave
The owner sketches the room, exits and tables in a browser, or photographs a hand-drawn plan. A simple crowd simulation sends the venue's real peak headcount toward the exits with smoke slowing one of them, and the page shows which door jams and how many minutes it takes.
Build with Canvas or p5.js crowd sim, Claude vision for plan photos, Next.js
Hardware and sensors
Exit Check Tags: NFC stickers on every exit, staff tap each at opening time to prove it opens
Each exit door gets a 15 baht NFC sticker. Before opening, a staff member walks past, pushes each door and taps it with their phone, and the page logs the time. The owner gets a dated log that shows every exit was tested every day, and a missed tap shows in red.
Build with NTAG213 NFC stickers, Web NFC, Supabase, Next.js
Hardware and sensors
Blocked Exit Watch: a distance sensor that warns when stock piles up at an exit
A small ESP32 with a time-of-flight distance sensor faces the exit path. If something stays within 1.5 meters for more than 10 minutes during opening hours, a buzzer sounds at the bar and the owner gets a message with the time.
Build with ESP32, VL53L1X ToF sensor, buzzer, Wi-Fi webhook
Voice and phone
Mock Inspector: a phone call where an AI officer quizzes you in Thai
The owner gets a call from an AI that plays an inspector, asks the questions in Thai, such as 'show me the second exit', and listens to the answers. It then sends a score and the three things most likely to fail.
Build with Twilio Voice, Whisper, Thai TTS, Claude
