Small neighborhood market organizers hand out stall slots by phone and memory, and vendors fight over them

No builders or owners yet

Local businesses October 16, 2026 at 11:07 PM

A Pantip vendor says the organizer gave her regular slot 2, she bought it in advance, and another vendor who had been in a standby slot wanted it, so the owner stepped in but the other vendor kept shouting at her and telling her to move. A family that opened a market in a residential area reports two weeks of bookings with no one signing up despite a banner and a loudspeaker truck, and worries about losing money. Another poster says a friend quit market stalls because hours of selling often only paid the stall rent. None of these markets seem to have a shared slot list or payment record that both sides can see.

5 ways to tackle it

  • Camera and vision

Paper Map Reader: photograph the hand-drawn stall plan, get a shared booking list

The organizer draws or updates the stall plan on paper with names and photographs it each week. Vision reads slot numbers and names into a shared page that vendors check, so the slot-2 argument is settled by the same list for everyone.

Build with Claude vision, Next.js shared page, Supabase

  • Hardware and sensors

Slot Plates: numbered stall plates with a QR that pay the rent and prove the slot is yours

Each stall gets a printed plate or ground tag with a slot number and QR. A vendor scans it to pay rent through PromptPay and the page marks the slot as theirs for that day, so a standby seller can see it is taken and no one needs to shout.

Build with Printed plates, QR, PromptPay, Cloudflare Workers, Supabase

  • Voice and phone

Empty Slot Caller: an AI phones the waiting list in Thai, first yes gets the slot

When a slot opens, the system calls waiting vendors one by one, offers the slot and price, and takes a yes or no by voice. The first yes gets a PromptPay QR by SMS, so empty slots fill without the organizer dialing all day.

Build with Twilio Voice, Thai TTS and speech, Claude, SMS

  • Hardware and sensors

Foot Counter: a beam sensor at the gate that counts shoppers by the hour

Two cheap infrared sensors at the entrance count people in and out and draw a bar chart by hour. After two weeks the organizer and vendors can see which days and hours earn less than the stall rent and choose how to set prices and hours.

Build with ESP32, IR break-beam or PIR sensor pair, e-ink or phone page

  • Web portal

Banner QR Signup: scan the banner, see the live slot map and book in 30 seconds

The banner and loudspeaker truck get one QR. A vendor scans it, sees the map of open stalls with price and pays a deposit, replacing two weeks of silence with a booking form that takes half a minute.

Build with Next.js, QR, slot map, PromptPay deposit
